Breast and cervical cancer continue to affect millions of women worldwide — but awareness and early detection can save lives. To spread this vital message, NSS Unit 7 of CEG Anna University, in collaboration with Kalpavriksham Trust and Privaram Cancer Hospital, conducted a Cancer Screening & Awareness Camp at Udavum Nanbargal Hospital, Alathur Village, Avadi.
The initiative saw active participation from 25+ NSS volunteers who engaged in an informative session led by medical experts on self-breast examination techniques and the critical role of early cancer screening. More than 43 beneficiaries from Alathur village attended the camp, with 11 women receiving Pap smear tests for cervical cancer screening.
This effort reflects a strong step toward empowering rural communities with knowledge, preventive care, and access to early detection services. Together, we can continue raising awareness, encouraging timely screenings, and working toward a cancer-free future.
